Is My Degree Valid? (Common confusing scenarios)

We get these questions all the time. Here are the simple "Yes or No" answers.

1. "I did my degree from an Autonomous College. Is it valid for Govt Jobs?"

YES.

Autonomous colleges (like St. Xavier’s) design their own syllabus, but the final degree is awarded by the parent Government University. It is absolutely valid.

2. "I have a B.Ed degree. Can I become a Primary School Teacher?"

NO.

The Supreme Court ruled that B.Ed is NOT valid for Primary Teachers (Class 1 to 5). For Primary jobs, you need a Diploma (D.El.Ed). B.Ed is for Class 6 and above.

3. "Is a Foreign Degree valid in India?"

It depends.

Just because you studied in London doesn't mean it's accepted automatically. You must apply to the AIU (Association of Indian Universities) for an "Equivalence Certificate".
